IQRA is a reading companion, not a religious authority. These terms set out what you can expect from the app, how we treat the text and its sources, and what the app expects from you.
By downloading, installing or using IQRA (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. If you are setting it up for someone else, a parent for a child for example, you confirm you have the authority to accept these terms for them.
These terms sit alongside the Privacy Policy and Apple’s own Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, which applies to every app distributed through the App Store.
IQRA is a Quran reading app for iPhone. It presents all 6,236 ayahs one screen at a time, in Uthmani Arabic with translation and optional transliteration, plays verse recitation with word-by-word highlighting, and tracks your reading towards a complete hatim, with optional plans, daily goals, widgets and an Apple Watch companion.
The App is designed as a daily reading companion. It is offered free, with an optional Premium subscription described in section 8.
We treat accuracy of the text as the most serious obligation this App has.
Despite careful sourcing, a display fault, a data error or a mistake in our code is always possible. If any ayah, translation or recitation in the App looks wrong to you, please tell us immediately. Reports about the text are treated with the highest priority we have.
The App is a reading aid. For liturgical use, memorisation checking or scholarly citation, refer to a printed mushaf and authoritative printed editions.
IQRA is a reading companion only. It is:
Hatim percentages, daily goals, streaks and celebrations shown in the App are reading aids we designed to support a habit. They are encouragement, not religious assessment, and carry no standing beyond the App.
The App plays recitation and optional ambient sound, and many readers use headphones. Protect your hearing. Set the volume so audio is comfortable and take regular breaks. On iOS you can cap output in Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Headphone Safety, and we recommend leaving that enabled. You are responsible for the volume at which you choose to listen.
You may use the App if you are able to form a binding contract where you live, or if you have the consent of a parent or guardian.
The App has no accounts and no sign-in of any kind. Your progress is stored on your device, which means it is yours alone, and also that deleting the App deletes it. Keep an iPhone backup if that matters to you. The App does send anonymous usage statistics; see the Privacy Policy.
Your hatim progress, daily goal history, saved ayahs and celebrations are records kept to support your own reading. They:
Losing progress because you changed, reset or lost your device does not entitle you to a refund or to compensation, though we understand it can genuinely hurt, and an iPhone backup restores it.
The whole Quran is free to read in IQRA. Premium supports the App’s development and keeps reading uninterrupted, with the full reading experience and advanced hatim tracking at your own pace. It is offered as an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription. The price for your region is set through the App Store and is always shown in the App, in your own currency, before you confirm.
The Quran itself belongs to no app, and we make no claim over it. What belongs to us or to our licensors is the work around the text: the software, the interface design, the IQRA name and logo, the reading and hatim systems, the written copy and the artwork. Translations remain the works of their translators and publishers; recitations remain the works of their reciters and archives. Both are presented in the App as published sources, with respect.
You are granted a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on devices you own or control, for your own reading. You may not:
Sharing an ayah image the App creates for you, with friends or on social media, is exactly what that feature is for. Your own progress data is yours. Feedback and suggestions you send us may be used without obligation or compensation, and we appreciate them.
You agree not to:
We may suspend or terminate access if you do any of these.
The App relies on services operated by others: Apple for distribution, payments and subscriptions, Google (Firebase Analytics and Cloud Firestore) for anonymous usage statistics, RevenueCat for purchase validation, and public Quran audio archives for recitation. What each one handles is set out in our Privacy Policy, and their own terms govern their side of it. We are not responsible for outages, changes or failures in those services, though we will do what we reasonably can to work around them.
We aim to keep IQRA available and working, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may add, change or remove features; we may require you to update to a supported version; and we may discontinue support for older operating systems. We may stop offering the App altogether, in which case we will give reasonable notice and stop charging subscriptions.
The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law:
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer protection law where you live. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, and Apple may do so under its own agreement with you. On termination, your licence ends; sections that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property, limitation of liability and governing law, survive.
We may update these terms as the App evolves. The date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change is material, we will tell you inside the App or on this site before it takes effect. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Istanbul, Turkey. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of protections or forums granted by the mandatory law of the place where you live.
Questions about these terms can go to the address on our contact page. A person reads it, usually within two working days.
